A few years back in Laos.

Living in a small mountain village just outside of Tokyo, I grow a crop of indigo every year and process the leaves into dye using traditional methods. I also breed silk moths, raise the silkworms and then reel/spin the silk from the cocoons. The silk is then dyed with natural dyes and finally woven on traditional Japanese looms. I run several ten-day live-in workshops a year at the old farmhouse here in Japan focusing on the Japanese use of indigo. Contact me for information.
Safia is amazing, I love the People Tree range. Fancy you two being so close, small world eh?
ReplyDeleteWe are both such gossips we get our heads together and laugh and I never have time to think of her as famous. Even when she starts a sentence like...'I had lunch with Brad and Angelina and I was so nervous I couldn't shut up....' or 'I gave him some organic long underwear as a present and told him I'd rather meet his mom because she was more my height.' (Prince Charles) She is a woman who manages to get it all.
Deletewhat amazing and positive energy. i'd seen that video some time ago, and was impressed by it then.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant woman, I read her biography. Safia is such an inspiration, I would love to meet her one day (coming to Florence maybe?!).
ReplyDeleteWe worked together for years in Laos I found her and her husband a weekend house just a few minutes from mine. She moved back to London a few years back and is only in Japan one week a month. Yes, she will pop down to Florence when I am there. She is an amazing woman.
